Company History
2010 markes the start of our fifth year in Winchester Bay. Four years ago, our humble beginnings were as an ice cream shop! Pretty soon, deli-style sandwiches were added, and to make our sandwiches really stand out, we decided to bake our own bread. This was a fairly easy transition, as our founder, Nancy, has been making her home sourdough from her own starter for 15 years, after being inspired by a chance visit to La Brea Bakery outside Los Angeles.
It only took a few extra "feedings" to generate enough starter for a bakery, and all our bread is made from this original starter, carefully cultivated years ago from a mash of red grapes, flour and water!
In these uncertain economic times, it's really rewarding to have our sales increase each year. We feel that this is a testament to people going out of their way to visit us!
